Clutch Cover
The clutch cover (pressure plate) clamps the clutch disc against the flywheel and releases it when the pedal is pressed. Its diaphragm spring weakens with heat and mileage, causing slip. It is replaced as part of a clutch kit with the disc and release bearing.
